“Vote for Us, the Party That Will Fundamentally Curtail Your Ability to Vote in Future Elections!”
Greetings, compatriots. It’s us! The party of the wealthy, privileged elite, er-traditional values! The union of haves who continue to have at the cost of the have nots. The people who barely acknowledge the existence of those have nots, despite the fact that they make up a solid majority of our support base. The Grand Ol’ Party: The Republican Party!
The 2026 midterm elections are right around the corner, and with them comes the requisite moment of reckoning for the incumbents, i.e. us. If current poll numbers can be trusted, you’ve made one thing abundantly clear: YOU’RE PISSED! And who can blame you? Soaring gas prices! A.I. coming for your jobs! A war in Iran no one asked for except Benjamin Netanyahu, and that no one was moronic enough to instigate before President Donald Trump! Your concerns are seen, heard, and acknowledged.
But why should you vote for us? Especially since we enabled this fiasco in the first place by not growing a spine and disowning Donald Trump in 2016? Or 2020? Or 2024? Well, for one thing, we offer an easy pathway for you to check out of this whole stressful endeavor indefinitely. How, you may ask? By making it extraordinarily difficult to vote in future elections! It’s that simple! Re-elect us again, the way a bizarre majority of you seem to do in every election cycle, and we’ll that beautiful dream a reality.
Throw a couple of votes our way and we’ll oversee a thorough re-branding of the Make America Great Again agenda. It’ll essentially be the same policy that’s plaguing you now, but without red caps and overtly jingoistic rhetoric attached to it. Our version of far-right nationalism is much subtler. This is especially true for those of you who live in deep red states with Republican-controlled legislatures that are happy to gerrymander your hard-won civil rights out of existence. If you still have the ability to do so, why not cast a vote our way this November as a parting salvo?
No need to burden yourself with ensuring a more perfect union on your own when you hand over the reins of power to us indefinitely. A historically slim majority of you voted Donald Trump back into power just a year-and-a-half ago. What’s stopping you from casting a ballot or two in our direction again? Except, of course for the fact that Trump has done such a horrible job this time around, even his most ardent supporters are turning their backs on him.
Maybe you don’t like the idea of ironically voting democracy away. We get it. But hey, you’ve seen Selma, right? Who’s to say history can’t repeat itself? Surely what is lost cannot be won back again. One could argue that this shouldn’t be necessary, and that the Constitution legally confirms this, but it looks as if your hand has been forced via your own voting practices. In a simpler sense, we don’t care!
You name the place, and we’ll be there to reply with an unwarranted show of force, motivated in no way by racial animus or plutocratic self-interests. Vote for us! If you can. And if you can’t, we’ll see you on the front lines. God bless America!
